2 Happy Things: Yarn and Visitors

Ottawa is a great city: so far I have fund 2 amazing yarn stores : D and a Value Village. The yarn stores are awesome!! Not the cheap crappy acrylic that WalMart and Michaels' carries, but not the high-end designer stuff like Debbie Bliss and Rowan that is too expensive for me - just a lot of middle of the road, quality yarn, at affordable prices. I love this. And the one store has a rewards program with a card and everything. And a newsletter! And offers classes! And a weekly knitting time to sit and knit and chat with other knitters! Wow! (I'm happy about this.)

Todd's mom is here for the weekend visiting us and hopefully Ian as well. He's got a commissioning Mass on Monday that she'll be going to, and hopefully we'll all go out for dinner for his birthday on Saturday. I knitted him a big thick wool hat for his birthday. I figure that since he's travelling across Canada this winter, he'll need the extra warmth. And since he's a knitter I think he'll appreciate it and be impressed with my skillz. ; )

Next weekend Morgan, Justin, and Jessiah will be driving up for Thanksgiving. Even though I'll be working each morning, I think we'll have a lot of fun. I'm going to cook a mad thanksgiving feast on Saturday (well, at least I'll try) and then Sunday we're hoping to hang out downtown and go to church in the Glebe. I was in a pretty rouch mood today and talking to Morgan on the phone really cheered me up. I'm so excited to see them all. It's strange, but I miss Jess way more than I ever thought I would. He's my baby brother so it feels really odd to leave him so far behind. I'm glad he's coming with them. And Justin's always a cool guy to chill with. So... it'll be a good weekend.

I think Jordan the Jedi is planning on spending his March break with us here. He'll love this city because he's and artsy guy. I hope he comes.

Kris - (I'm writing you a note on here because it'll save you time in the internet cafe rather than having to open a separate email.) I wanted to call you and pray with you before you left but my phone died and I didn't get a chance. But know this: I love you and will be praying for you as you travel the world and have fun. Be safe and know that you are loved!

I'm out for now.

I can't Believe I Get Paid For This!

Last night I went to a dance. But not just any dance - a dance with one of the men I work for. A dance for people with developmental disabilities. It was awesome. These people dance with such pure joy and inhibition. They aren't afriad like most of us are when we're at these things, all self-conscious and afraid. There was a lot of singing along, a lot of MuchMusic moves, some air guitar, some hooking up, and even some drama (which I was involved in.) I was slowdancing with a guy to Eminem's Just Lose It (haha) when a woman tried to cut in. The guy not-so-spolitely told her to leave him alone and to not touch him because she's "gross." I couldn't do anything but laugh. She left, we finished our dance, and that was it.

Good times.

I love my job.

Krazy

Kristy was here for the past 4 days or so. She arrived Sunday and left yestreday. We had an awesome time. We walked around downtown Ottawa for a while, looked at Quebec, and found some homeless cats on Parliament Hill (The have their own little cat hotel, complete with groundhogs and raccoons). I watched as Kris climbed a few monuments, and as she had her butt tattooed. She has been talking about having a maple leaf tattooon her butt for years and since she's leaving for Scotland in less than 2 weeks, we figured she should get the tattoo now. And where would be a more appropriate place than the nation's capital city? So, Todd designed the tattoo and I went along to see it being done. I took pictures but they are on her camera so I don't know if I'll ever be able to post them.
We also went on a Haunted Walk of Ottawa. It was very cheesy, but we met a Scottish chick and Kris got her phone number and loads of advice for travelling in the UK.

Also supercool was the fact that Ian (my brand new brother-in-law) came to visit us last Sunday. He's doing a missions thing across Canada this year but right now he's staying in Ottawa for some training. He has Sundays off so we met him downtown and spent the day together. He's such a cool kid. I equipped him with knitting supplies to keep his hands occupied on the long van ride to Alberta.
I was in heaven on Sunday as Kris, Ian and I all sat 0on the couch just knitting and chatting. I LOVE when my friends knit.

Today I am off to get a new driver's liscence with my new name, as well and some other random errands. So I shall go now.......
Bye!

Alive!

He Y'all, I'm still alive! and well!

I realize it's been eons since my last post but I was doing some important stuff, like getting married, and such. Then we moved and didn't have internet until about 1 hour ago. So here I am, posting again. I'll update regularly and eventually get you all caught up on my life. I can't write much right now though because I've got to get ready for work shortly.

Ottawa is great though - I'mm loving it so far. I felt pretty isolated at first becaus we had no phone and no internet and I have no friends. But now it's better. We have a phone, and cell-phones, and internet, and I have some friend-possibilities. I'll just have to wait and see how things progress. And I talked to both my girls this past weekend. That was awesome.

Living with Todd is good. At first it was really weird, but now it's just super-relaxed. We're getting used to each other and I love it. He's so cute! Especially with his retainers in at nighttime. That 's one of my favourite things. : )

K, gotta jet. Peace out!
