Frig and then some Good Stuff

Today was frustrating. I didn't sleep well last night because I was so thirsty, which I knew in the back of my mind meant my sugar was too high, but I couldn't wake up enough to do anything about it so this morning when I woke up my blood glucose level was 25 (it should be 5). I took a whack of insulin and drank water and got on with my day. Long story short, it stayed that high, more or less, all day. I finally called in sick to work this evening because I felt so ill. It's down to 5.5 now though so I'm feeling a bit better. Friggin frustrating Diabetes. I'm praying more and more often now for God to take this away. I'm ready to give it up.

On a more positive note, church this morning was great. We had a service at the fairgrounds with all the people who were there for the Fiddling and Stepdance competition. A bunch of fiddlers participated in the service which was really nice. I led worship and I love the acoustics in that building so that was enjoyable.

For lunch we went out to a buffet. My grandparents are visiting from Alberta (for 2 months) and they love buffets. Probably not the best idea when your blood sugar is 5 times the normal range, but at that time I thought it was on its way down.

I wrote some thankyou notes for shower gifts I received on Thursday. My church threw a shower for me and I was extremely blessed! I love our church. : )

I called my friend Steven tonight. That kid is awesome, but so hard to have a conversation with. And he knows it! Cynthia observed that he really likes to be in control of his environment and I agree. I don't blame him though. Anyways, we had a little chat and I was glad to talk to him. I miss that guy.

That's about all I did today. Oh, I also shopped a bit and bought Todd a pair of pants. I bought myself a pair of hot pink and black rain boots. They are great. I love walking in the rain but I dislike wet feet and pants so this is perfect. And they're cute which is always a nice bonus!

I have tomorrow and Tuesday off. yay!! my only 2 days off in a month. I plan on enjoying them.

Have a good night y'all!

Girly Pants

Last night I went to see The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants. I went with my girls, Morgan & Kris, as well as our 3 mothers and one grandmother (mine). It was cheesy but good. Kris hated it, as she despises all girly things (well almost all). We all cried at one point (except Kris of course) and we talked through the entire thing. I'm sure we annoyed some (or all) of the people in the theatre. There was a really ugly wedding dress in the movie (which I loudly pointed out) and a lot of cheesy girl-bonding moments (at which point Kris would audibly say "barf!" and entirely ruin the moment.) The best part of the movie was that when the 4 girls were together their conversation didn't seem scripted and paced - they all just talked all the time. I guess that's what we're like. I now realize that we probably annoy a lot of people.

That was a good night off. I've got awesome friends. We went out for breakfast the other night around 9 and the grossest thing happened. Morgan was pouring syrup on her pancakes and in the stream of syrup was a black little blob. It travelled down the stream into the puddle on syrup and slowly crawled out of the puddle. It shook it's wings and legs off, one at a time, and crawled up the handle of the spoon. It was a fly! Sooo gross. Morgan (or Kris) said it was like in sci-fi movies when the aliens emerge from the goop and creep everyone out. Nasty.

Working

I haven't been posting much, or doing much of anything lately, because I've been working a lot. (I'm at work right now.) It's great for the finances but not so much for my social life. It seems you can never have both. I love my job though. The guys I work with are awesome.

Gotta go!

In General

I haven't been up to much lately so I don't have much (if anything) of interest to write.

I went to camp for a couple days to visit my family. That was nice. I saw some old friends 0 Ellard, Jon and Josh (the Fruitcake kid). The pool was also nice.

My aunt and uncle from Chicago are visiting. They were also at camp. It was good to see them. They're awesome.

I've been knitting a lot lately - can't say what, it's a gift. I've also been reading a bit. I'm still working on The Last Word, but I also got The 100 Secret Senses from the library today. I read it in highschool and have been thinking about it a lot recently. It's about reincarnation and it's very interesting. I like the idea of reincarnation... I always have. I don't actually believe in it but it's a fun thing to think about. I've always loved books that tell a story of people being reborn.

I went to see Mr. & Mrs. Smith on Wednesday. It was funnier than I expected and very good.

Todd and I updated our gift registries at both Walmart and Home Outfitters. That's always a fun and frustrating experience (this time was mostly fun though.) I tend to spazz on him a bit too often. Sorry kid. : (

In general, life is good. I've been working lots which means lots of money. Unfortunately I haven't seen my girls much lately. That needs to be remedied.

I went to Sunfest yesterday and today. I love that fesitval. It's a multicultural thing and there is tons of good food! (I ate 2 candy apples. : ) )

That's it for now. I'm off to knit. : D

Points!

I went to Shopper's Drugmart yesterday to use some of my points to get free stuff. They way it works is that if you have 34000 points, you can get up to $75 worth of stuff free. I knew I had enough for that once and I thought maybe twice (as in I could get $150) but when I actually checked it out, I had enough points to get the free stuf 5 times over! I could get $375 worth of free stuff. So my mom took $75, my sister took $75 and I took $75 and I still have enough points on my card for another $150. Sometimes it pays off to be buying stupidexpensive medical supplies all the time. ; )

Pretty much all I bought with my points was makeup. And I actually went over by $20, so I now have a lot of makeup which is good because I had run out of almost everything.

I've got to rush off to work so I can't write about anything more interesting right now. Sorry.

Birthday Weekend

Todd's birthday was yesterday. He has now caught up to me and is 22. Yesterday after church we went out for Thai food at a new place. It was pretty good. Today I told him we could do whatever he wanted.... so we basically did errands. It was a good day though. He got some new clothes, we figured out our insurance stuff for our apartment and to end it all off we went to see War of the Worlds. It was creepy and good. I was surprised thought that there was no mention of or reference to spirituality. Most apocalyptic movies have some hint of it. I guess this did but only from the narrator. The characters never seemed to think of a higher power, which I think is unrealistic. Generally when things start to go badly, no matter how un-religious people are, they often turn to some form of spirituality to help them cope. This movie seemed to ignore that aspect of humanity. Other than that though, it was very good and I like that it dealt with the conflict between humans and aliens, but also between humans and other humans. It addressed that very well.

I'm getting offline now so that's it for tonight.
