Transatlanticism

Justin - you need to blog something soon! I have no idea what's going on in your life and it stresses me out. Plus, I kind of miss you.

Now on to everyone else - How are y'all doing? I'm doing great! I went to a needlecraft festival with my internet friend Julia on Friday. It was great. I bought a bunch of wool for cheap and I saw a lot of things that I had previously only seen online and in knitting magazines (KPPPM, certain kinds of Noro, Namaste glass needles in funcky cases, Handmaiden yarn, etc.) Also I learned that the Yarn Harlot (see link at right) is coming to Ottawa on November 9! I am so excited! I am going to book the day off work just so I can go see her.

I'm going to meet another craftster.org member in real life sometime soon. I don't know her real name yet ( I keep forgetting to ask) but I found out that she lives only a 10 minute walk from me (1 min from my work). Crazy how people you talk to online can actually be so close to you and you may never know! I wonder if I've ever passed her on the street or sat near her on a bus or stood behind her in line while shopping? Good chance I have. Weird eh?

Audrey

Audrey Hepburn is my favourite actress ever. She's beautiful and funny and cute and classy. My favourite movie of hers is Breakfast At Tiffany's in which she plays a high class call girl who is in love with a writer/gigolo (from what I can tell, given that the movie was made in 1961 they are very vague on what these peoples' occupations actually are.) I first watched this movie in grade 8 at a sleepover with a bunch of girls who I'm not really in touch with any more (except for you Becci) and I've seen it countless times since. All of this is why it was perfect when Todd brought me back a matted print of this movie poster from New York, where the movie takes place. What a perfect souvenir! And to make it even better, today he bought me the Audrey Hepburn dvd collection with Breakfast at Tiffany's, Roman Holiday, and Sabrina. I eventually want to see all of Audrey's movies. If you haven't seen any go out and rent one (well at least the girls who read this, guys - these probably aren't your type of thing but you could rent one to impress a girl.) That's my advice for the evening, watch some Audrey. She's a darling.

Violet Hair and Violent Dreams

Lizzie hooked me up with this cute knitting template. I love it!

I woke up at 5:30ish this morning because I was having a rotten nightmare. If Todd had been here, I would have rolled over, cuddled up to him and that would have been enough to break the spell of the nightmare... but he's still in new york so there was nothing to snap me out of it. Every time I would doze again I'd be right back in the terrifying dream so I had to get up at 5:47 friggin a.m. I watched the Office and ate breakfast and knitted for over an hour before I had to start getting ready.

I went to the post office today and the postal worker asked if he could touch my hair. Weird eh? I let him because I don't really care. It just feels like normal hair but everyone wants to touch it for some reason. This was the first time a total stranger asked though.

When I'm walking around shopping or whatever I notice people looking at me oddly (almost suspisciously) which totally weirds me out until I catch a glimpse of my reflection and remember that I have purple hair. They probably think I'm some sort of badass teenage punk. Which is hilarious because I'm none of the above. A woman at work told me that every time she would see someone with hair like mine on the street she would automatically assume they were goth or something but now that she knows me and has seen me with purple hair she won't make that assumption as much.

Ridiculous people.

I love fall.

I love that autumn brings the perfect walking weather. I walked to church this morning and it was beautiful. The only downside is the wind which hurts my ears. Good thing I'm a knitter and have toques to match almost anything! Here are some photos from a few weeks ago when Morgan and I went walking in Big Bank Spring Park.

Girl Time

So I had my sleepover and it was great. We didn't ened up watching any movies because we talked all night. Seriously almost all night. Diana and I were up to almost 5am. We all got up at 9:30 because people had various places to be. I had 6 girls come over and 4 stayed the whole night. Lizzie and Christine left around 3:30 am. We ate so much junk it was awesome. We didn't even have room for the ice cream sundaes there was so much other food. There was an easy solution to that dilemma though - sundaes for breakfast!

Saturday morning after everyone else left Darcie stayed to help clean up and then we went for a long walk to the yarn store. She wants to learn to knit Christmas Stockings. (She's on a very steep learning curve as she didn't really know how to knit at all before hand!) I went to a chili cookoff with the Rideauview College and Careers group and laughed at people playing Dance Dance Revolution. Then I accompanied Darcie to her husband's hockey game to watch him play. And we knitted. We actually paid a bit too much attention to the knitting and we didn't see all of the goals Keith scored. I think he was a little sad. But Darcie's stocking is coming along great! I was afraid she's be sick of me after spending that much time together but I don't think so because she even fed me hot chocolate. I'm happy to have another friend now.

Mmmmm

I feel like I've been living on candy the past couple of days and my sugar is still always low. As much as I enjoy candy I think maybe I should adjust my insulin levels. This is a good thing.

I spent $60 at the Bulk Barn yesterday. I borrowed a friend's car specifically so I could stock up on jelly beans. They are just too heavy to carry home a decent amount on the bus. I've figured out that I've been going through my jelly beans about 3x as fast as I used to which makes perfect sense considering I now live with Todd and work with Micah.

I'm having a girls' night tonight. We're going to watch chick flicks and pig out on ice cream sundaes and candy apples and have a sleepover. It should be lots of fun. Todd's gone for the weekend so I have the apartment to myself. I'm not sure what I'm going to do the rest of the time but I'm sure I'll find something.

I better get back to cleaning up before I leave for work.

Links

I've updated my links on the sidebar (Mom that means you can link to people's blogs again).

I don't feel like blogging any more right now. I'll try to write some stuff tomorrow.

Purple!

Here's my hair in the various stages it took to make it purple. Sorry I didn't take a before shot, see the previous post if you really want to see what it looked like. Many thanks to my hairdresser, Burr. She's in that last photo. She did a great job even though she dyed my face a little bit. Thanks Bandi!
