Deck the Halls

I bought a Christmas tree today. It's 4.5 feet tall which is the perfect height to sit on our end table. We decorated it and it's very cute. I don't have any pictures yet but hopefully soon.

For now I'll leave you with a photo of our apartment door:

And Victoria sent me an email/survey thing. I'll respond to it here rather than by email.

It's a muscial life story survey. Here's the soundtrack of my life, based on the following rules: 1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc) 2. Put it on shuffle 3. Press play 4. For every question, type the song that's playing 5. When you go to a new question, press the next button 6. Don't lie ---

Opening Credits: What Sarah Said - Death Cab for Cutie

Waking Up: Halloween - Rent Soundtrack

First Day At School: Coloured People/Entertaining Angels Smashup - dc Talk & the Newsboys

Falling In Love: Where the Stars Go Blue - Benthany Joy Lenz & Tyler Hilton (One Tree Hill)

Fight Song: Between You and Me - Relient K

Breaking Up: Glad - Tyler Hilton (One Tree Hill)

Prom: In Love with the 80s (Pink Tux to the Prom) - Relient K

Life: I Shoudl Tell You - Rent Soundtrack

Mental Breakdown: The Return of the King - Lord of the Rings Soundtrack

Flashback: Get Down/All Fall Down/Dive Smashup- Audio Adrenaline, Grits & Steven Curtis Chapman

Getting Back Together: Blue Eyes - Cary Brothers (Garden State soundtrack)

Wedding: Everybody's Fool - Evanescence

Birth of Child: Day By Day - House of Heroes (remake of dc Talk song)

Final Battle: It's Only Love - the Beatles

Death Scene: 12-Bar Original - the Beatles

Funeral Song: Twilight and Shadow - The Lord of the Rings soundtrack

End Credits: Masquerade - The Phantom of the Opera soundtrack

Haha, so that was kind of silly. The only song that was really fitting was the Prom one - the song's alternate title is "Pink Tux to the Prom." If anyone feels like taking this and doing it on your bloog, please do. They'd be fun to read.

One More Thought

Jessibeth chewed into my insulin pump tubing today. So... she may have gotten insulin in her and I may have gotten guinea pig saliva in me. Hopefully we both survive. I'll let you know how it turns out. :D

Trim a Tiny Toilet Tree

Todd has gone out to see the new James Bond movie with some guy friends of his. I'm sure none of you are surprised that I would rather stay home and knit.

I was at a Behaviour training course for the past 3 days. My job sent me, but the course was run by a different agency here in Ottawa. While there I found out that I could work as a Behaviour Consultant since I have a psych degree and experience in the field. It would be a much more professional type job and would pay more but I don't think I'm ready to grow up that much yet. I'll keep an eye out for job postings though. It's nice to know that I could actually use my degree for something if I chose to.

The Santa Claus parade is tomorrow morning. I thought about going but the waeather's been nasty so I'll watch on tv instead. I love parades.

I signed up for a Degrassi swap on craftster.org. Did I already tell y'all that? I'm super excited and have some ideas of what I'm going to craft already. I've just got to get started!

I inhaled too many marker fumes today and now I have a headache. I think I'll go to bed.

Oh - I should mention today's decoration: The little tree in sitting on our bathroom counter. I think the tiny ornaments were originally from my Oma. I bough the little tree so they would have something to hang on. Last year it was our only tree (It's a bout 10 inches tall.) This year I want a 4 foot one to stand on our end table. Maybe we'll go buy it tomorrow.

Funny story about bathrooms - at work the other day one of my coworkers (not a native English speaker) told one of the guys to go "wash your hands in the toilet." Obviously he meant "toilet" as the general term, meaning "washroom" but that's not how I initially understood it. I thought he was out of his mind for a minute.

Now, off to bed.

PrincessJazz

When the movie Aladdin came out, I was obsessed with Princess Jasmine. For about a year I constantly pretended in my mind that I was her, and I had a huge imaginary tiger named Rajah who followed me everywhere. It was a fun pretend, but eventually I realized that it was kind of insane (after all, I was like 12 years old) so I gave it up.

But I still have a special place for Princess Jasmine in my heart and thus lots of Disney Princess merchandise. Here's a list of how Princess Jasmine plays a part in my life:

  • Up until I got married I had Princess Jasmine besheets. They are now our guest sheets.
  • I had Princess Jasmine (and Barbie, but I'll get to that another day) dishes.
  • I have two Jasmine barbie dolls.
  • I have a 3 foot long stuffed tiger toy.
  • I have this awesome Christmas ornament -->
  • My display picture on my cell phone is Princess Jasmine.
  • My cell phone rings "A Whole New World"
  • And finally, this isn't really merchandise, but I came down the aisle to "A Whole New World" at my wedding. Some people didn't think that was the best choice but it actually sounded very good (cello solo) and it was perfectly suited to me.
  • Also - she was the inspiration for my online username PrincessJazz. (Obviously).

Les Cochons

  1. One of my many nicknames in my family was/is Chunky Pig. Not ever meant in a mean way, and I'm not even sure where it originated, but it resulted in me receiving muliple pig-related gifts.

  2. Which leads me to #2. --> This Christmas tree ornament. I love it. I love fat things and this piggy is just the right amount of fat. I decorated my apartment a couple days ago and I will try to remember to share some of my favourite decorations with you over the next little while.

  3. I added a little "virtual pet" at the top of my blog. Technically it's a hamster but I say it's a guinea pig. Jessibeth the guinea pig to be more exact. Play with her. It's fun.
  4. I washed the real Jessibeth in the bathtub the other day. I used ferret shampoo so now she smells nice and I'm sure it's much better for her fur and skin than people shampoo. She's happy about it. I can tell because she's talking more. She makes a little noise that sounds like "wheek." Very cute.
  5. I'm pretty sure I had something else to say about pigs but I forget right now. If I remember later on, I'll add it.

P!NK

As you can see, the purple tinge to my hair has faded away and it's more the way I wanted it to be. It's even pinker now because last week I overdyed with the extra pink I had left to fill in the really faded spots. It's still pruple, but with more of a pinkness to it. I like it. Todd's even starting to like it. These pictures are from a few weeks ago. I'll have to get more recent ones sometime.

Just around the corner!

It's November! That means Christmas is coming! Soon! I'm pretty excited. I feel a little late thsi year as I have no decorations up yet although I've been playing the Christmas tunes for the past couple months. And I've got a great start on my kitted gifts - 4 down, 2 to go (more may be added later.) Now I need to start shopping in earnest, I've been buying little things here and there since August. I'm heading out to a Christmas craft and gift sale in a few minutes and hopefully I'll find some good gifts there. Today is just to look, I'll be going back Sunday with Julia and maybe then I'll do some buying. I love craft shows! Hours of entertainment! Haha, okay I know that's dorky. I thoroughly enjoyed the Needlecraft Fesitval I went to last week. I've wound much of the yarn I bought into pretty little balls ready to be knitted into stockings for Christmas. Which reminds me, I should get started on those as well.

Happy November everybody!

Lyrics

"Never knew how to be free, till God gotta hold.
I was blind but now I see, lost but he has rescued me.
Now I'm where I'm meant to be since God gotta hold on me"

I forgot how much I loved this cd until I started listening to it again. Even Todd has declared it good, which surprised me. It's not his style of music. Semi-cheesy mid-nighties Christian music is my love, not his. But oh, how I love it. Anyone know who the artist is? I know there's at least one of you who does.
