Life is Nice

First - go check out this link, then come back and keep reading.

http://tubularpadawan.blogspot.com/2006/05/rab-oodle.html

Now that you've heard that cute story (I'll keep you posted with any developments or adorable photos) you can keep reading.

Not that I have much to say.

We had people over to play Settlers last night. It was pretty fun.

I had a relaxing day at work today. I got to work with my buddy Micah all day and we went on an almost 2.5 hour van ride way out into the country until we didn't know where we were. It took us an hour to get back. I thought we wouldn't make it back for the end of my shift. I considered calling in sick this morning but am glad I didn't. I usually have more fun at work than at home.

The weather is friggin hot. And I love it. I'm going to take Todd out for ice cream tonight.

We bought an air conditioner. It's not my favourite thing, but as long as Todd is happy, I'm happy. He can't handle life when he's overheated and consequently I can't handle him.

I mailed out my crafts for that children's book craft swap on Craftster. I can't post any photos until my partner receives.

I finished a knitted gift a little while ago - can't post pictures yet. I'm working on a sweater - should be done soon. Also feverishly working on some Father's Day stuff.

Still loving the Spice Girls.

That's it.

Ouch

I just woke up with a brutal headache. I hope this advil kicks in soon.

My grandpa is going into the hospital this morning for an operation on his heart. he has had a heart attack before and he never fully recovered. Lately he's not doing so well and sounds like he might not last too much longer. If you're the kind of person who prays (as I know many of you are), it would be great if you could say a little prayer for him and my grandma sometime today. Thanks guys. If you were at my wedding you would have seen my grandpa - he spoke about the two Nile rivers and how they merge.

I'm off to work.

Wannabe

I love the Spice Girls. We just finished watching Spice World last night. I wish I could be one of them. How awesome would it be to get to sing and dress crazy and be ridiculous all the time and get paid lots to do it?

Mangos

I am going shopping for mangos in the morning and I am excited because they are on SALE!

I am also loving this new iPod action. It's like having a soundtrack to my life. Even the mundane stuff like brushing my teeth. (The song for that action by the way was Jesus the Mexican Boy by Iron and Wine. Todd calls them the "coma band" because their sound is so slow that they might as well be in a coma.)

Jessibeth is growing. She may even be getting just a tad fat. That would thrill me. If you know me, you know I'm all about the fat. I love fat things. Fat animals, fat toys, fat people even. Not like unhealthily obese because when it comes to health issues that's no good - but round and chubby and cute? I'm all for that.

One Tree Hill is my latest addiction. I'm bootin' it through the second season. Such a good show. Todd's hooked too. he watched 3 episodes on his own while I was at work tonight. Watching that show always makes us feel better about our life because it could not possibly be as screwed up as anyone's on that show. It's nice to realize that normal life is exactly what ya need. Who needs drama? Not me.

I'm also all about the Spice Girls again lately. Todd's watching Spice World with me for the 1st time. (This will be my, oh, maybe 45th time? Not exaggerating. ) They rock. Remember when platform shoes and short skirts were cool because of them? Hey, people who knew me in grade 10, remember when I wore platform shoes and short skirts to be "cool"? Yeah, I'm over that. But I kinda miss it. I finally gave my mom permission to throw out my 4 inch green platforms when I was home last.

Speaking of home - I'll be back in 3 weeks. I'm booking June 9th off work so I'll come home late Thursday night (the 8th) and will stay until Sunday the 11th (late afternoon most likely). Kris - book a day off in there somewhere so I can see you. Morgan - you too. Bandi - hopefully I'll make it out to camp to see ya. Sorry Waterloo people - I doubt I'll make it there this time. But I'll be coming sometime in August for a week and a half so hopefully I can see more people then.

Believe it or not, I came online to post only about mangos and it turned into all this. I need to go sleep now though so that I'll be able to wake up in time to buy mangos. :D (I'm such a geek.)

iPod

Todd bought me an iPod shuffle today. He said he'd buy me one when he got his first paycheck and we've been looking everywhere for one but most stores are sold out. Finally today he found one. I'd been super grumpy all day and hadn't been very nice to him so I felt like such a loser when he came home with this awesome gift. Needless to say I've been a lot happier and nicer since.

I called Kris today.... that also helped break my bad mood. If any of you are ever grumpy - call Kris (if you are privileged enough to know her). She's the best cure for a bad mood.

I talked to my mom today for a long time. And my brother Jordan the Jedi. He just bought a top hat and is in the process of sewing himself a cape to wear instead of a coat. He's a weird kid and I respect him for that. Check out his blog (link on the right) to see a photo of his new hat.

I'm working diligently on crafts for this swap, and also father's day. I also need to knit a little sweater for my new iPod since Todd has asked me (multiple times) to please not scratch it. We all know how well that's going to turn out.

I'm off to knit.

Cds Galore

I rarely buy cds. Since highschool my music consumption has decreased dramatically. But, I've bought 4 cds and a dvd in the last four days.

1. Rod Stewart - The Rock Album I love Rod Stewart, and it was only $5 at WalMart.

2. Gregorian Chant - Tribute to The Music of Elton John I saw this and said "that's the weirdest thing ever. I'm going to buy it." So I did. It is weird, but kinda cool. (Also only $5.)

3. Death Cab for Cutie - The Photo Album. I love these guys, I've heard that this album in particular is good, and it was on sale. (2/$30)

4. Sufjan Stevens - Come on Feel the Illinoise I've read about this guy on a couple different blogs and I thought I might like him. I downloaded some of his stuff and decided it was worth paying for. (Also on the 2/$30 sale.)
  • question for you who listen to this guy - how do you pronounce his first name? Is the J pronounced hard like a J in English, or soft like in German and other European languages where it sounds like a Y? Anyone know?
5. Napoleon Dynamite special edition dvd Flippin sweet movie!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
side note:
I just got home from watching Eight Below with Sarah. It was really cute. Gives me respect for dogs and all the cool stuff they can do.

New Specs!

I finally got new glasses! Because I got them at Hakim's, I got two pairs, as I usually do. They are a lot more normal than some of my glasses in the past, but I like them.

Todd says these look like old lady librarian glasses. I remember him helping m,e pick them out - he claims to have no memory of this.

I think the brown ones are my favourites. They have rhinestones AND tiger stripes! Here's a picture of the stripes held up to the tiger on the front of my shirt.

What do you think?

Social Interaction!

I had social interaction from 7:30 a.m. until 9:00 tonight (I mean hanging out with someone other than Todd.) It was a great day. Should have been my day off but I had to go to a half-day of training. It was better than most of my days off though so I'm not complaining. Micah came for breakfast to kill time after dropping his wife off at work and before we had to be at training. After training we went shopping and had lunch and played MarioKart, Lizzie came over, Diana came over, we went to a staff appreciation dinner for CH. Had an awesome time. I learned that Lizzie is really, really loud, but a lot of fun. After the dinner a bunch of us were going to go to my place but I've lost my keys (possibly in Lizzie's car?) so we chilled at Diana's instead. She has cool cats, and a mouse so that was pretty fun. Then I went home. Unfortunately Todd couldn't come over because he had a meeting to go to with a guy from his work. He's loving his job and he's getting to do cool stuff like actually designing buildings and stuff (just the very preliminary stages, but it's still a big deal (to us).)

I need to go to bed soon so I think I will end there. I just need to add that I'm thrilled that Kris has been blogging again lately. Keep it us Kris!

School & Crafts

So I spent all day today in a training session related to my job. They've sent 5 of us to take this course. I'm there with awesome people so even though the class part of it is kinda boring, the breaks and stuff are fun.

I looked into my online college course this afternoon. It looks pretty easy and I'm all set to start the first assignnemt which isn't due for 3 weeks. Maybe tomorrow I'll get started.

I knitted for 5 hours solid today during that training. I'm working on a gift so I can't tell ya much about it. Actually what I've been working on at home right now is also a gift so no news on that either. I started my crafts for that children's book craft swap yesterday and have gotten a fair amount done. I'm not going to say much about it either in case my swap partner stumbles on here.

I should be sleeping but I need some time to wind down. I'll go surf craftster. Have good night everyone.

Fleece Artist to Dye For

This is the To Dye For sweater pattern from the book Stitch n Bitch. I used a much thinner yarn than they recommended and used smaller needles so mine is kinda different. I used Fleece Artist yarn (which is Canadian for those of you who aren't in the know about stuff like that.)
Lately I've been all about the Canadian yarn. This is my first successful adult-sized sweater and I love it! It smelled a bit like a goat at first but that's fading the more I wear it.

Socks

The Rainbow pair is for me. The peach pair is for my Mother-in-Law. When I showed them to Micah at work he sniffed them to see if they smelled like peaches.

Canadian Sophie

The name of this pattern is Sophie and mine was knit all in Canadian wool. The pattern is from Magknits. There's a link on the right.

Birthday Gift from Jordan

I use it to hold all my double pointed knitting needles. They fit perfectly. Didn't he do an awesome job? (Jordan, the photos are uploaded to craftster's picture hosting under the name PrincessJazz2. You know my password if you need it, but I don't think you do.)

Big Bird Legs

Inspired by Amber's friend Robbie.

Links and more

I'v eupdated my links at the right to include more of the blogs I read regularly. If you're someone who reads this and I have not linkd to, leave me a comment and I can add you. (Sorry JeN, - I know you read all the time but I have some young readers and your stuff isn't always PG so I can't link to you. I do check your blog daily though!)

I also added a couple other knitting sites for you girls that I've gotten hooked (Tanya, Becky, Katie...).

My friend Becky came to visit this past weekend and we hung out for a while on Sunday. It was good times. We made pizza, went to Michaels, and then I taught her to knit. I think I'm getting to be a better teacher every time I teach someone. If I tried to teach you how to knit a few years ago and all I accomplished was to confuse the heck out of you (Jordan) then I apologize. Come back to me now and we can probably get somewhere. Becky caught on quick and can already knit and purl. Her first project will be a blanket. She's a cool girl and I was glad to see her again. It's nice to have married friends. (In case you're not sure who I'm talking about this is the Becky that got married the week before me. Formerly BeckyJ.) I have a hard time calling her by her new married name and still usually refer to her using her old last name. I wonder if people have the same problem with me.

I finished my first successful adult sized sweater. I still need to take pics and when I do I'll post them here. I love it even though it smells a bit like a goat. I also finished my first pair of socks for myself. And a pair of legwarmers that look like Big Bird's legs. Pictures will come soon. I promise.

But now it's off to bed. I work early tomorrow and really need to sleep. I am chronically tired. I think it comes from flipping between morning and afternoon shifts all the time. Plus it's been worse lately because my sugar has been going low more often than usual and that always tires me out. It's better than being too high though. I'm really trying to get back into a healthy range.

Okay, really now, I am going to bed.

Goodnight.
